Wednesday Pickle

Hi Everyone. It's me.....Midget Molly. I'm in a little bit of a pickle and I'll tell you why.
Well, this morning I was enjoying a crispy CheeZ-It...
and doing some sniffing around...
and Rambo was doing some birdie watching.
You know how G-Mom like to feed the birdies.
Anyhow....do you see that little dove sitting alone at the bottom of the feeder on the right?
You will never believe what happened to him! All of a sudden we heard a loud "BOOM" and ran outside to investigate.
Kerplunk! This is what we found.
We watched that poor little dove take it's last breath. OMD! I was horrified!
G-Mom put it in a plastic bag.
Here it sits on top of the A/C unit. If you look close you can see it's eye! Ewwww. Creepy.
This is what happened. Apparently, this guy has been swooping down at the birds on the feeders trying to get his next meal. G-Mom has seen it with her own eyes. Why didn't that big hawk pick on that nasty sneaky squirrel that steals the birdies food. Look, Mr. Hawk.......he's sitting right there waiting for you!
So, THIS IS MY PICKLE!
1. Do I make G-Pop bury the dove and give it a proper funeral??
2. Do I have G-Pop throw the dove over the hill and feed it to the hawk??
Rambo says it's only natural for Mr. Hawk to eat other birdies. I say why should I give that big hawk anything when it once tried to attack me. I'm not being selfish!
What do you think??

Hi MM
That poor dove, he died for nothing. The hawk didn't even want to eat him.
You will make the right decision.

Poor, poor birdie. It just seems wrong for a bird to want to eat other bird, but around here when there's babies in the nests, the hawks often get them despite the parents' desperate squawking. I'd say dispose of the bird however you see fit. If you try to feed it to the hawk and he doesn't get it, it will just attract other wild things.

See ya!

hmmmm... an already dead bird is not that much fun for the Hawk to catch. We think he should have a burial instead.

Woof! That is such a disturbing story. One time at our old house we found a dying bird outside. We say, bury.

Midge,

Well, I would personally suggest giving the poor dove a proper funeral. So sad. We're lucky that we don't have to hunt and kill our food in order to survive. It is natural but it's still awfully sad to witness. My mom can't watch nature shows when they show one animal hunting and killing another. She's too soft in the heart (which is better than soft in the head). My mom always says if she had to kill her food she'd definitely be a vegeterian!

I say give it the proper burial. We have hawks here too and we know that they are just doing what is natural, but we still feel sad for the birds.
Uh, my mom feeds the birds too, but it appears that your have WAY more feeders than we do! Our birds are kinda picky and push all the seed out from the feeders just to find one small special seed it seems. Luckily we have doves too and they clean up the mess on the ground.
Burial.....that would be nice.
